Summary

Enacted 12 June 2023. Establishes the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as an independent regulatory body. Provides for data privacy impact assessments (Section 28), regulates cross-border transfers of personal data (Part VIII), addresses automated decision-making (Section 37), and establishes rights of data subjects. Applies to NIMC as a data controller processing personal data of Nigerian residents.
